Las Vegas leadoff hitter Matt den Dekker hit the second pitch of the game over the center field batter's eye to give the 51s a 1-0 lead. El Paso came back with two runs in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Jeff Francoeur and a sacrifice fly by Adam Moore, who also had a hit in the game, extending his hitting streak to ten games, the longest for the Chihuahuas this season.
Las Vegas sent eight batters to the plate in a three-run third inning against Chihuahuas starter Matt Wisler. The 51s added a run in the fifth and two more in the seventh to go ahead 7-2. The final three tallies came on Andrew Brown's home run off Francoeur, the first runs the outfielder allowed in five pitching appearances.
