The El Paso Chihuahuas fell to the Las Vegas 51s 8-7 in the opener of an eight-game homestand. With first place Salt Lake's loss at Sacramento, the Chihuahuas remain two games out of first place with 23 games remaining on the 2017 schedule.

Franchy Cordero went 3-for-4 with a solo home run to begin the bottom of the first. It was El Paso's first leadoff home run since Rafael Ortega's on April 27th against Salt Lake. Cordero leads the Pacific Coast League in triples, despite playing in only 72 of El Paso's 119 games this season.
