Galvez Home Run Leads Chihuahuas Past Aces

June 7, 2014

El Paso Chihuahuas Game Summary

Chihuahuas 6 Reno 4 - Friday

WP: Buckner (4-2)

LP: Bolsinger (5-1)

S: Ambriz (5)

Time: 3:05

Attn: 6,374

Jonathan Galvez's three-run home run in the fourth inning helped the El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Reno Aces 6-4 Friday at Aces Ballpark. Galvez finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Former Reno pitcher Billy Buckner allowed two runs in five innings to pick up the win.

El Paso fell behind in the first inning when Mike Jacobs hit a two-run home run into the Aces right field bullpen. Cody Decker's RBI single and Galvez's home run put the Chihuahuas ahead in the fourth. Reno loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the ninth, bringing the winning run to the plate in the process, but Hector Ambriz got Jacobs to ground into a double play for the first two outs and then got Andy Marte to fly out to center field to end the threat and the ballgame.

Jeff Francoeur went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, his second home run in as many nights. The Chihuahuas picked up a game on first place Las Vegas and now sit in second place by themselves, 5.5 games out of first.
