Possible 2017 Chihuahuas

December 12, 2016

Baseball America has started publishing lists of minor league free agent signings for next season and some players who have been acquired by the Padres could suit up for El Paso in 2017.

This is not an official list of new Chihuahuas, as any of the players listed could be in the major leagues or in a different organization by April 2017.

RHP Logan Bawcom: The 28-year-old had an excellent 2016 season for the Oklahoma City Dodgers, posting a 1.92 ERA in 31 games. He has been both a starter and a reliever throughout his professional career. Bawcom went to high school in Midland and was drafted out of the University of Texas at Arlington.

INF Dusty Coleman: The 29-year-old played in Kansas City's organization in 2015 and 2016, including five MLB games for the 2015 World Series champion Royals. Coleman is a powerful hitter, having slugged 18 homers for Double-A Midland in 2014 when he was in the Athletics system.

RHP Carlos Fisher: The 33-year-old faced the Chihuahuas last season while pitching for Round Rock. He has spent time in the Reds, Rays, Athletics, Braves and Rangers organizations, including three seasons in the majors with Cincinnati.

C Stephen McGee: The 25-year-old has two brief stints in the Pacific Coast League with New Orleans and Salt Lake and spent most of last year at Double-A Arkansas in the Angels organization. McGee was originally a 2013 draft choice out of Florida State.

INF/OF Jamie Romak: The 31-year-old veteran has clubbed exactly 200 minor league home runs over his 13 seasons, including two against El Paso while with other PCL teams. Romak has played 1B, 3B, LF and RF in his professional career.
