Idaho Falls, ID -- Outside of blowing a seven run lead a couple nights ago, the Chukars have owned the four games against the Raptors. The success continued tonight in a 9-5 win.
Idaho Falls (22-22, 3-3) traded the lead with Ogden (23-21, 3-3) early, and took the edge for good in the fifth inning. Elier Hernandez delivered a clutch two run single. It was part of a three run inning for the Chukars to break a 5-5 tie. The Greybirds tagged Jordan Hershiser (2-2), who had previously picked up a win against Idaho Falls.
The Chukars bullpen mowed down the Raptors. In relief of Yender Caramo, Josiel Martinez (5-2) picked up the win. The team leader in victories lasted 1.1 innings, and didn't allow a hit. Kyle Bartsch notched a hold by striking out all three batters he saw. Idaho Falls' best relief pitcher this season has been Glenn Sparkman. The right hander picked up his first save of the season.
Hunter Dozier blasted a solo home run in the eighth. It was the eighth overall pick in the 2013 draft hit the homer over the video screen in left field. Dozier leads the team in home runs, and runs batted in.
The Chukars get their fourth win in eleven tries against the Raptors. Idaho Falls has won three of the past four games against Ogden.
Idaho Falls plays the fifth of six games in a row against the Ogden Raptors tomorrow. It's the third of four in a row at Melaleuca Field. Tyler Mack is slated to start for the Chukars.
