Jose Gomez knocked in a pair of runs on Wednesday night, but the Clearwater Threshers dropped the series finale at St. Lucie, 8-3 at First Data Field.
Clearwater (18-26) took the series two games to one, after sweeping the doubleheader on Tuesday.
The Mets (18-22) jumped ahead in the first against Nick Fanti (0-2), when Desmond Lindsay doubled home a run and scored on Luis Carpio's sacrifice fly.
Jacob Zanon added an RBI double in the second inning, putting St. Lucie up 3-0.
The Threshers rallied to pull even in the fourth.
Adam Haseley led off the frame with a single, and Austin Listi was hit by a pitch. Darick Hall followed with a base hit to right to score Haseley and cut the deficit to two.
With two down, Edgar Cabral drew a walk to load the bases. Gomez then pulled a grounder to the right side that was deflected by third baseman Michael Paez, permitting two runs to score to knot the game up at three.
The tie held until the sixth, when a pair of one-out singles proceeded a Paez three-run home run to left-center that opened up a 6-3 Mets lead. The Mets would grab two more in the eighth off reliever Will Hibbs.
The 10-day road trip continues as the Threshers will open up a four-game series at Palm Beach on Thursday. Mauricio Llovera will take the hill in game one, with first pitch at 6:30 p.m.
