Flores' Walk-Off Hit In 11th Lifts Threshers Past Mets, 6-5

*CLEARWATER, FL - *Despite trailing 5-2 in the bottom of the 11th inning, the Clearwater Threshers rallied back to walk-off the St. Lucie Mets 6-5 on Thursday night at BayCare Ballpark.

Left-hander Jordi Martinez made his 13th start of the season on the mound for Clearwater, allowing only two runs, one earned, on five hits with four strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work.

The Threshers (14-25, 49-55) opened the scoring in the third on a leadoff base knock by Wilfredo Flores and an RBI single by newcomer Cade Fergus to make it 1-0.

After the Mets (21-18, 61-43) responded with two runs in the fifth to grab a 2-1 lead, relievers Gabriel Yanez and Carlos Betancourt combined to work 4.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts to keep the deficit at one.

With the Threshers trailing 2-1 in the eighth, the home team used a leadoff single by Erick Brito, a sac-bunt by Alexeis Azujae and an infield RBI single by Hao Yu Lee to tie the contest 2-2. Lee finished the game 2-for-4 with one run scored.

Tied 2-2 at the end of nine innings, both teams threatened but went scoreless in the 10th to send the game to an additional frame.

In the top of the 11th, the Mets pushed home three runs on an RBI double by Raul Beracierta and a two-run home run from Jack-Thomas Wold off right-handed reliever Sam Jacobsak to grab a commanding 5-2 lead.

Trailing 5-2 in the home half of the 11th, the Threshers loaded the bases and scored twice on two bases loaded walks by Chad Castillo and Matt Alifano to trim the deficit to 5-4. With one out and the bases still full, Flores ripped a two-run, game-winning single into right to give the Threshers a 6-5 walk-off victory. Flores finished the game 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Clearwater will look to make it three straight wins over St. Lucie on Friday night in game four of the six-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and left-hander Jordan Fowler (2-0, 2.35 ERA) is set to start for the Threshers. Coverage on the Threshers Broadcasting Network will begin at 6:20 p.m.
