December 20, 2013

COLUMBUS - The Clippers coaching staff for the 2014 season has been named and there are a couple new faces that will join some returners from last year.

Chris Tremie will return for his second season as the Clippers' manager. In his first season in AAA, Tremie led the Clippers to a 71-73 record, finishing second in the International League West Division.

Also returning to the Clippers dugout for his second season with the team is pitching coach Tony Arnold. During Arnold's first season, Clippers pitchers struck out a team-record 1,239 hitters.

Strength coach Ed Subel also re-joins the Clippers staff.

Two members of AA Akron's coaching staff have gotten the call to Columbus for the 2014 season. Chad Wolfe will assume the role of trainer for the Clippers in 2014.

Replacing hitting coach Phil Clark will be Jim Rickon. This will be 16th consecutive season with the Cleveland Indians organization as both a player and a coach for the Cleveland native and Cleveland State alum. In 2013, Akron led the Eastern League in hits (1,314) and ranked second in batting average (.268).
