Clippers blank Toledo 1-0

Carrasco strikes out 10 in six innings
6:01 PM EDT

A late Juan Diaz homer led the Clippers to a 1-0 win over the Toledo Mud Hens at Huntington Park.

For much of the night, it was a pitcher's duel between Toledo's Pat Misch and Clippers righty Carlos Carrasco. Misch struck out seven in seven innings of work while Carrasco fanned ten batters in six innings of work.

After six innings of scoreless ball, a run would come across the plate in the bottom of the 7th when Clippers shortstop Juan Diaz launched a solo shot over the centerfield wall to give Columbus a 1-0 lead.

It will ultimately stood up as the final as Columbus garnered its first victory over Toledo in 2013. Scott Barnes (W, 2-0) was given the win for the Clippers. Misch (L, 0-3) took the loss for the Hens. Preston Guilmet (S, 4) shut the door in the ninth to earn another save out of the Columbus bullpen.

Columbus continues its three game set with the Toledo on Sunday afternoon. It will be a pair of left-handers facing off on the mound as Hens lefty Casey Crosby (0-3, 7.11) duels with Clippers southpaw Giovanni Soto (0-0, 6.75). First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM.
