The Columbus Clippers and the Gwinnett Braves meet up in the first of a three game series at Coolray Field. The Braves scored first in the bottom of the first inning and the Clippers tied the game in the top of the second on an Erik Kratz home run.
The Clippers' Adam Plutko and the Braves' Andrew Albers settled down and threw goose eggs until the top of the fifth inning, when Daniel Robertson singled up the middle and Bradley Zimmer followed with a home run to right field. Columbus 3, Gwinnett 1.
The Braves closed the gap when former Clipper catcher Anthony Recker homered in the bottom of the fifth inning. Columbus 3, Gwinnett 2.

The Clippers added two runs in the sixth inning on a single by Ronny Rodríguez, a run scoring triple by Erik Kratz and a wild pitch.   Columbus 5, Gwinnett 2.
Plutko had his best outing of the season, going six innings, allowing just four hits and two runs, striking out seven with no walks.
Tyler Olson followed Plutko to the mound and threw two scoreless innings giving up just one hit.
Josh Martin struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth for his first save of the season. Plutko (1-5) picked up his first win of the season and Albers (2-1) was tagged with his first loss.
