Clippers outlast Pigs in lengthy affair

Columbus victorious for eighth time in last ten contests
July 20, 2013

In a game that spanned more than four hours and thirteen innings of play, Columbus bested Lehigh Valley 1-0 at Coca-Cola Park.

This game would begin at 6:35 PM, but then the rains came in the middle of the second. After a two hour and ten minute rain delay, play resumed in the bottom of the second. No runs would be plated in regulation innings so the Clippers and Iron Pigs would go to extra frames.

The Clippers finally got on the scoreboard in the top of the thirteenth inning on a solo homer by Matt Carson. Preston Guilmet (W, 4-4) got the win for the Clippers. Justin Friend (L, 4-3) took the loss for the Clippers.

A pair of lefties will duel as the Clippers wrap up their four game series with the Iron Pigs on Sunday night. Columbus southpaw T.J. House (3-9, 5.15) will face off against Lehigh Valley left-hander Greg Smith (4-1, 2.28). First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 PM.
