Dibrell (W, 6-6) struck out five and set the new single-season strikeout record. The right-hander passed Joe Shaw who punched 134 batters in 2016. Dibrell has fanned 138 hitters in 125 innings this season. That's tops in the South Atlantic League.
Almost every hitter in the lineup tallied a multi-hit game. When it was all said and done, seven did so, including the last five hitters in the order.
Columbia (61-66) took an early 2-0 first-inning lead over Charleston (60-70) and never looked back. The Fireflies later led 6-1 with four runs in the fourth and 11-2 after another four-run outburst in the seventh.
