Staten Island, NY -  Eliezer Alfonzo went 2-for-3 and the Connecticut Tigers (10-12) pulled out a comeback victory over the Staten Island Yankees (11-10) by a score of 3-2. Alfonzo extended his hit streak to eight games for the Tigers.

The Yankees got on the board first in the contest with a solo-home run by Everson Pereira off of the starter Carson Lance . Lance went five innings giving up two runs on two hits with six strikeouts.

Staten Island added to their lead in the third on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. The Tigers answered in the top half of the fifth.

With two outs in the inning Connecticut produced back-to-back hits to tie the game at 2-2. Corey Joyce delivered an RBI double, and Ryan Kreidler followed with an RBI single to score Joyce.

Hector Martinez delivered the final blow for the Tigers in the top of the eighth inning. Martinez hit an RBI double in the left-center filed gap to make it 3-2. For Martinez, this was his sixth RBI in the last two games.

Jake Baker (Win, 1-0) and Zack Hess (Save, 3) combined for four scoreless innings of relief.

Hess came in to relieve Baker with the bases loaded and one out in bottom of the eighth inning. He struck out the next two batters he faced to get the Tigers out of the inning. Hess has still not surrendered a hit this season, and he now leads the team in saves.
