CORPUS CHRISTI - Hooks infielder Randy César made Texas League history in Corpus Christi's 4-2 victory against the Frisco RoughRiders on Thursday night, extending his hit streak to 38 games with a double in the first inning.
Cesar's streak is now the longest in Texas League history, surpassing El Paso's Bobby Trevino, who previously held the record with a 37-game hit streak in 1969.

Hooks starter Corbin Martin tossed three scoreless frames before allowing a run to the RoughRiders in the fourth. The Hooks struck back immediately as Cesar led off the bottom half of the fourth with a single, which was one of three hits for Cesar during the contest. Yordan Alvarez followed with a two-run blast to left field. Alvarez's ninth homer of the season gave the Hooks a 2-1 lead.
Corpus Christi collected two more runs against Frisco starter Tyler Wagner in the sixth. Alvarez and Taylor Jones hit back-to-back singles to begin the frame while Chas McCormick drove both in with a two-run single later in the inning. The Hooks took a 4-1 advantage.
On the mound, Dean Deetz replaced Martin in the fifth. Deetz, who is on a rehab assignment with Corpus Christi, spun a scoreless inning.
Right-hander Jorge Alcala entered the game in the sixth. He tossed a scoreless sixth and allowed a run in the seventh. Alcala picked up his first victory in a Hooks uniform after firing scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth.
The Hooks have won eight straight games.
Corpus Christi and Frisco continue their series on Friday night. Lefty Framber Valdez makes the start for the Hooks. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
