Feldman Picks Up Victory
July 10, 2015

CORPUS CHRISTI - Brett Booth and Colin Moran homered in Corpus Christi's 3-2 triumph over Tulsa at Whataburger Field Friday before 7,067.

The Hooks improved to 7-8 in Texas League second-half play and 55-30 overall while capturing the rubber match of a three-game series.

Booth's third yard shot over his last five games pushed the Hooks ahead to stay at 2-1. His 411-foot blast into the Corpus Christi bullpen came after Jose De Leon (2-4) issued a two-out walk to Danry Vasquez. De Leon retired 14 of the first 16 men he faced, seven via strikeouts; his pitch count after three innings was just 37.

The night's ultimate difference-maker came in the sixth, lead-off hitter Moran dropping his first homer of 2015 just over the left-field rail.

De Leon booked four hits, two walks, and 10 strikeouts in a 101-pitch appearance (73 strikes).

Rehabbing Houston starter Scott Feldman (1-0; 4-4 as an Astro), who opened the game for Corpus Christi, flirted with danger during much of his 87-pitch outing. In the first, he stranded two in scoring position and whiffed a pair. Feldman also left two aboard in the third and fourth frames.

Tulsa (8-6; 38-45) finally broke through with a fifth-inning singleton, Peter Lavin's lead-off triple conveyed into the first run when Brian Burgamy skied a sacrifice fly to right. Feldman was responsible for six hits, two walks, and four strikeouts. Fifty-eight of his pitches were strikes.

Hooks ace Chris Devenski came out of the bullpen to record a four-inning save. Lavin's ninth-inning, two-out laser into the right-field bullpen pulled Tulsa to within a run, and Devenski fanned Jarek Cunningham for the final out as two Drillers stood in scoring position.

The visitors left 12 men on base and were 0-for-9 with runners at second and third.

Tulsa second baseman Ronald Torreyes has a seven-game hitting streak.

It's Jose Altuve White Hooks Jerseys for the first 1,750 from CITGO Saturday as Springfield arrives for the first of three games. Corpus Christi sends Michael Feliz (2-2) against Corey Baker (2-3) at 7:05. Gates open 5:30.
