Gonzalez Spoils No-Hit Bid in Hooks Loss

SAN ANTONIO - Norel Gonzalez's seventh-inning home run ended a no-hit bid for the San Antonio Missions Friday as the Hooks fell, 3-1, at Wolff Stadium. Missions starter Adrian Martinez didn't allow a hit over 6.0 innings, with only Marty Costes reaching base via two walks. Martinez (W, 3-3) retired

SAN ANTONIO - Norel Gonzalez's seventh-inning home run ended a no-hit bid for the San Antonio Missions Friday as the Hooks fell, 3-1, at Wolff Stadium.

Missions starter Adrian Martinez didn't allow a hit over 6.0 innings, with only Marty Costes reaching base via two walks. Martinez (W, 3-3) retired 18 of 20 batters with nine strikeouts.

Gonzalez's blast came against Mason Fox to lead off the seventh, ending the no-hitter. Scott Manea added a double later in the frame but was stranded at third as the tying run.

San Antonio got on the board first with a Michael Curry homer off Parker Mushinski, who was otherwise outstanding over 3.2 innings. Cesar Rosado (L, 0-3) allowed four walks and hit three batters while allowing two unearned runs.

The teams meet Saturday at 7:05 with Brett Daniels on the mound for the Hooks.
