CORPUS CHRISTI - The Hooks dropped the opener of a six-game series to the Midland RockHounds Tuesday at Whataburger Field, 7-5.

It was an ominous start for the Hooks and Jimmy Endersby, who loaded the bases with two outs and proceeded to give up a grand slam to Kyle McCann.

David Hensley got a run back with an RBI double in the bottom of the first against Ty Damron. The next inning, Pedro Leon tied the game with a long three-run homer, his second in as many games for the Hooks.

Midland took the lead back in the third on a Devin Foyle sac fly. The Hounds got a home run from Jhonny Santos for added insurance in the sixth.

In a 7-5 game in the ninth, the Hooks put runners on the corners with two outs for Hooks home run leader Norel Gonzalez. However, the on-and-off rain showers picked up and was deemed too heavy for play. The game was called after a 34 minute delay with the tying run on first.

Endersby (2-1) lasted 4.0 innings, giving up five runs on four hits and four walks while striking out five.

The sides meet again Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. with Hunter Brown going for the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits.
