FRISCO - Juremi Profar's second-inning grand slam carried the RoughRiders to a 5-1 victory over Corpus Christi Sunday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
Frisco (27-17, 51-63) now leads the Hooks (25-19, 68-45) by two games in the Texas League South second-half standings.
Corpus Christi established a 1-0 lead in the second thanks to a sac fly by Stephen Wrenn.
The advantage was short-lived. Luis Yander La O and Josh Morgan opened the home half with singles off Corbin Martin. Following a strikeout of Destin Hood, Michael O'Neil lined a base hit into left field to load the bases. Profar was next and belted an 0-1 breaking pitch over the fence in left.
Martin (6-2) permitted three more hits through his exit after the sixth. Two of those knocks were doubles by O'Neil and Eliezer Alvarez in the fourth which led to Frisco's final run.
Yohander Mendez (1-0) earned the victory, spreading one unearned run and five hits over six innings. The Frisco lefty fanned five and did not issue a walk.
Brett Martin blanked Corpus Christi in the seventh and eighth, and Anthony Gose stranded two in the ninth.
Rehabbing Astro Carlos Correa went 2-for-4 with a double in his third rehab game with Corpus Christi. Anibal Sierra accounted to the other Hooks extra-base hit, notching a two-bagger in the fifth.
Corpus Christi left nine baserunners aboard.
Ronel Blanco and Erasmo Pinales each tossed a scoreless inning out of the Hooks bullpen.
Corpus Christi is off Monday, ending a stretch of 26 games in 26 days. The Hooks begin a six-game homestand Tuesday with the first of three against Tulsa. Corpus Christi is slated to send lefty Ryan Hartman (9-3, 2.87) to the hill. The Drillers plan to counter with Justin DeFratus (4-3, 3.69).
