GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars are introducing several new food items for the 2017 season which opens up tonight at 6:30 p.m. Field against the Clinton LumberKings at Northwestern Medicine Field.
A new and improved signature burger, which has been dubbed the El Jefe, will satisfy foodies who are looking for a little kick to their meal. The masterpiece includes a jalapeño and Monterey Jack cheese infused burger patty, Ghost Pepper Jack cheese, pork belly, chipotle mac and cheese, pork carnitas, jalapeño straws and a refreshing drizzle of honey mustard sauce. El Jefe will be available for purchase tonight at the Burger Cart located on the concourse behind home plate and starting regularly in mid-May.

Also available at the Burger Cart this season is the Grown Up Grilled Cheese which was submitted by a fan through the off-season Cooking with the Cougars social media contest. The Grown Up Grilled Cheese takes on a new twist from the classic with the addition of bacon and tomatoes. Another fan submitted creation that will be featured at the concession stands is the Chicken and Waffle Cone. A crispy waffle cone piled high with chicken nuggets coated in waffle batter will be served with a side of sweet syrup to drizzle on top or dunk your nuggets in.
New street tacos will be available at the South of the Border Cart with your choice of chicken, carnitas or steak served with onions and fresh cilantro. A taco salad with also be available with shredded lettuce, savory Spanish rice, your choice of chicken tinga or ground beef taco meat, black beans, diced onion, tomatoes and sour cream all inside a fried tortilla bowl.
The gluten free cart, located on the third base concourse, returns this season with new items including a gluten free turkey burger as well as a gluten free wrap.
New giant sausages will also be available at the Fontanini cart on the home plate concourse with selections including a hot dog, Polish, Cheddar Polish and Italian sausage topped with grilled onions.
An item that's sure to be a home run with fans is the steak sandwich. Served on a torta bun, a juicy piece of grilled ribeye steak is topped with grilled onions and peppers.
