Cougars Homestand Preview: May 18-21

Homestand highlights include Halfway to Halloween; first fireworks show of the season

GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars, Class-A Minor League affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, get set for a four-game homestand beginning Thursday evening when they host the Quad Cities River Bandits (Houston Astros affiliate). Homestand highlights include $1 beers, hot dogs and sodas for Thirsty Thursday, a spooktacular Halfway to Halloween celebration, post-game fireworks, pony rides and the traditional post-game run the bases.

Thursday 5/18 - Quad Cities River Bandits (Houston Astros) - 6:30 PM (Gates open at 5:30 PM) - WBIG 1280 AM (6:15 PM)

  • Thirsty Thursday, presented by Miller Lite - $1 beers, sodas and hot dogs
  • Pre-game Cougars Reading Club parade
  • National Anthem - JB Nelson School
  • Post-game autographs with Jeferson Mejia in the Team Store
  • Fans can run the bases after the game (weather permitting)

 

Friday 5/19 - Quad Cities River Bandits - 6:30 PM (Gates open at 5:30 PM) - WBIG 1280 AM (6:15 PM)

  • Halfway to Halloween Night, presented by All Dressed Up - fans are encouraged to dress in costume
  • Haunted van and hearse, courtesy of Massacre Haunted House, behind the right field deck
  • Pre-game Cougars Reading Club and Halloween costume parade
  • National Anthem - Band for Today
  • In-game entertainment from the ZOOperstars!
  • 7th Inning Stretch: ZOOperstars! with Grace McWayne School
  • Post-game fireworks set to a modern pop playlist
  • Post-game autographs with Sam Lewis in the Team Store
  • Fans can run the bases after the game (weather permitting)

  • Three Fires Council Scouts Campout (reservations required)
  • Pre-game Cougars Reading Club and Scout parade
  • National Anthem - Prospect Elementary School Choir
  • Color Guard - Scout Troops
  • Post-game fireworks set to a modern pop playlist
  • Post-game autographs with Tyler Mark in the Team Store
  • Fans can run the bases after the game (weather permitting)

 

Sunday 5/21 - Quad Cities River Bandits - 1 PM (Gates open at Noon) - WBIG 1280 AM (12:45 PM)

  • Pre-game Cougars Reading Club Parade
  • National Anthem - May Watts Elementary School
  • Petting zoo and pony rides behind KidZone, courtesy of Friendly Farms, LTD. *Must have KidZone ticket/wristband
  • Post-game autographs with Ozzie and Annie T. Cougar in the Team Store
  • Fans can run the bases after the game (weather permitting)

 

Cougars Reading Club - The Cougars reading incentive program is back for its third decade in 2017. This season, the program includes more than 400 Chicago area schools and 140,000 students who are improving their reading skills through the Cougars Reading Club. Participating students who complete reading goals set by their respective teachers are awarded a ticket to an April or May Cougars game, a food voucher, official Cougars Reading Club bag and the opportunity to participate in the pre-game on-field parade. The Cougars Reading Club is sponsored by Cantigny Park, The PRIDE Stores and Oberweis.

Halfway to Halloween- On Halfway to Halloween, presented by All Dressed Up Costumes, fans ae encouraged to dress in their Halloween best to take part in a pre-game parade on the field. A haunted hearse and van will be behind the right field deck, courtesy of Massacre Haunted House. Enter if you dare! Following the game, fans will be treated to our first post-game fireworks show of the season set to a modern pop playlist.

ZOOperstars!: Friday's game features the ZOOperstars! first visit to Northwestern Medicine Field this season. A traveling, inflatable act, the ZOOperstars! utilize comedy, acrobatics, tricks and maneuvers accompanied by synchronized dancing to entertain fans.

Three Fires Council Scouts Campout - Following the game, Scouts will enjoy a post-game movie (The Lego Movie) on the videoboard and spend the evening under the stars in the Cougars Campground. A hot breakfast will be served the following morning. The campout is open to all Three Fires Council Scout Groups (reservations required).
