Hickory, NC- The Hickory Crawdads are excited to announce an exhibition game against the Catawba Valley Community College Red Hawks on Monday, April 2nd. The game will feature a Crawdads team that is looking to build off of a strong finish in 2017, and a Red Hawks team that is currently ranked 11th in the nation of the NJCAA. The game is scheduled to start at 6pm with gates opening at 5pm. All tickets will be general admission seating and free of charge compliments of the Catawba County Partnership for Children. The Catawba County Partnership for Children will be on site collecting donations for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library for those that wish to donate.

The Catawba County Partnership for Children's Imagination Library is a program actively working to ensure that children will be prepared for success by the time they reach kindergarten. Kim Holden is the Executive Director of Catawba County Partnership. She states: "Every dollar contributed to the Catawba County Partnership for Children's Imagination Library program goes directly to put a book in the hand of a Catawba County child. Imagination Library sends one book in the mail to each enrolled child every month until that child turns 5 years of age. The program is provided at no cost to families because of the great support of our community!" They currently have over 5000 children in Catawba County enrolled. The exhibition game is an excellent chance for the community to support these children through their donations.
Concessions and the Catawba Farms Crawdads Café will be open during the game to serve refreshments and food. The game will be the debut of the new-look L.P. Frans Stadium after a series of renovations that took place during the offseason. The renovations included a brand new video board, new playing surface, new outfield walls, and new protective netting behind home plate.
Mark Seaman, the General Manager of the Hickory Crawdads, states: "We are excited to play CVCC and provide our fans the opportunity to support Catawba County Partnership for Children." He adds, "This is also the first time fans can see the renovations in a game setting before opening day."
The exhibition will be the first chance to see the 'Dads in action in 2018. The Crawdads will open the regular season against the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Thursday, April 7th. They will play four games in Greensboro before heading to Delmarva to take on the Shorebirds for three games to conclude the road trip.
The Crawdads home opener is scheduled for Thursday, April 12th against the West Virginia Power at 7pm. Individual game tickets will go on sale online this Friday, March 16th. They will be available at the stadium at the Spring Fling on Saturday, March 17th. Group tickets, luxury suites, and party patios are currently on sale for all 70 games.
