Gallo Nominated for MiLBY Offensive Player of the Year Award

Crawdads All-Star 3B one of 12 finalists

Hickory, NC - Fan voting for the annual MiLB.com MiLBY awards is underway, and Crawdads All-Star third baseman Joey Gallo is among the 12 finalists for the Offensive Player of the Year Award.

Gallo, 19, led the Minor Leagues with 40 home runs this year, while ranking third in MiLB with a .623 slugging percentage. The Nevada native also finished among the South Atlantic League leaders in extra base hits (1st, 62), total bases (3rd, 239), RBI (5th, 78) and runs scored (5th, 82), while helping the Crawdads set a new SAL home run record with 178 team homers.

Former 'Dads RHP C.J. Edwards has been nominated for Breakout Prospect Award as well. Edwards finished the year 4th in the Minors with a 1.80 ERA, while his 155 strikeouts were the 15th highest total. The former 48th round selection in the 2011 Draft was traded by the Texas Rangers to the Chicago Cubs on July 22nd, as part of a package for RHP Matt Garza.
