Hickory, NC- Hickory Crawdads outfielder Yanio Perez has been named South Atlantic League's Player of the Week for April 24th-30th, following his monster week at the plate that helped the 'Dads take three out of four games from Columbia.
Perez, 21, led a resurgent offense this past week, as the Cuba native led all SAL batters with a .609 average, 5 home runs, 14 hits, 30 total bases, and 13 RBI over the 7-game stretch. The right-handed hitter is currently riding an 8-game hitting streak, which includes 6 multi-hit games.
Signed by the Rangers as an international free agent in 2016, Perez leads all 'Dads batters with a .358/.453/.642 slash line (AVG/OBP/SLG) in addition to collecting 6 home runs, 5 doubles and 18 RBI over 23 games with Hickory this season.
The 'Dads will travel to West Virginia for a 4-game series from Tuesday, May 2nd to Thursday, May 4th, before starting a 4-game set in Hagerstown on Friday, May 5th.
