By Williamsport Crosscutters | September 14, 2017 10:45 AM ET

The 19th season of Williamsport Crosscutters baseball ended with a win on September 7th in State College to push the Cutters season record to .500 (37-37). The team has finished .500 or better in each of Pat Borders three seasons as he set the mark for most career victories as Cutters manager.

It was a dismal start to the 2017 campaign as the squad dropped six of their first seven games . But the team was soon bolstered by the addition of many of the Phillies top picks in 2017 including 1st round pick OF Adam Haseley. Overall, six of the Phillies top 10 picks in 2017 played in Williamsport. After the rough start the Cutters were 36-31 the rest of the season on the way to .500.

2017 was certainly a historic year in Williamsport professional baseball history. The season marked the debut of over $4 million in renovations to BB&T Ballpark. The upgrades included all new stadium seating, new expanded safety netting, & the Loggers Landing premium deck along with a new MLB quality playing surface and dugouts. BB&T Ballpark was featured on the national stage, hosting the MLB Little League Classic on August 20 between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates. The game, televised nationally on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball, is expected to return in 2018!

The Cutters averaged almost 1,800 fans per game in 2017 (a 4% increase), making BB&T Ballpark one of the most popular entertainment venues in the Susquehanna Valley.
