Cutters Bullpen Struggles in Loss

WILLIAMSPORT - - Williamsport returned home Wednesday night with a 7-3 loss to the Hudson Valley Renegades at Historic Bowman Field.

Ariel Soriano led off the game with a wall ball double off of starter Shane Martin. Soriano would be retired at home plate on a nice defensive play by first basemen Logan Pierce. Martin did not allow a run in the inning.

In the 2nd inning, two defensive errors by the Crosscutters lead to two Renegades runs. Patrick Blair who reached on an error to lead off the inning scored on the Cutters 2nd error of the inning to make it 1-0. Granden Goetzman, who reached on the 2nd error, would score on a double by Granden Goetzman to make it 2-0. Both runs would be unearned.

In the 4th inning Hudson Valley plated a pair of runs to make it 4-0.

In the bottom half of the inning Williamsport got on the board as Gabriel Lino delivered an RBI double to left to plate Andrew Pullin to make it 4-1.

In the 5th Hudson Valley would get the run back on an RBI single from John Alexander to make it 5-1.

In the 6th inning the Renegades got two more runs. Johnny Field singled in a run to make it 6-1. Ty Young followed with an RBI single to make it 7-1. Both runs came off of Matt Soren in his Cutters debut. Soren only went a third of an inning.

Josh Warner worked a scoreless 2.2 scoreless innings in relief to keep the deficit at 7-1.

Cutters Carvings: Williamsport was held to six hits in the loss… Matt Soren made his Williamsport Debut in the loss… The top three hitters in the Cutters line up went 1-11 with two walks…
