Cutters Held To Three Hits In Loss

Looking to pick up a big win on the road and start a charge, the Cutters fell 5-2 in Batavia.

Batavia took an early lead in the bottom of the 1st inning when Felix Munoz singled in JT Riddle with two outs in the inning against Mitch Gueller to make it 1-0 Muckdogs.

Williamsport was able to tie the game in the top of the 2nd inning when Dylan Cozens scored on a throwing error by Muckdogs catcher Micheal Vaughn to make it 1-1.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Batavia would see their first six hitters reach via singles against Gueller. Coco Johnson drove home Scott Carcasie to make it 2-1 Batavia. Luis Ortiz followed with a single that plated Micheal Vaughn to make it 3-1. JT Riddle capped the scoring in the inning with a single that plated Johnson to make it 4-1. Mitch Gueller would work the entire inning.

Muckdogs starter Max Garner was replaced in the top half of the 4th inning by Brian Ellington. Max Garner allowed one run, unearned, on one hit in three innings of work. Despite leaving with the lead, Garner did not pitch enough innings to qualify for the win.

Williamsport got a run back in the 4th inning when Dylan Cozens scored on an error committed by shortstop Javier Lopez while trying to turn a double play. The run made it a 4-2 deficit for the Cutters.

Mitch Gueller would be replace by Matt Soren in the 5th inning. Gueller allowed four runs, all earned, on 10 hits. Gueller did not walk or strikeout a batter in his four innings. He was on the hook for the loss when he was replaced.

Brian Ellington would be replaced in the 7th inning by CJ Robinson. Ellington allowed one run, unearned, in three innings of work. Ellington walked two and struck out one. Ellington left the pitcher of record to the good for the Muckdogs.

In the 5th inning Batavia made it 5-2 when Felix Munoz doubled to center and plated Carlos Lopez. It was Munoz's 16th double and 36th RBI on the year.

Matt Soren would be replaced in the 7th inning by Felix Santos. Soren allowed one run, earned, on two hits in two innings of work. Soren walked two and struck out three while dealing two wild pitches.

Santos worked two scoreless innings of relief allowing just one hit while striking out two Muckdogs.

Casey McCarthy worked a scoreless 9th inning for Batavia to earn his 6th save of the season in eigh attempts.
