The Williamsport Crosscutters season opens on Monday, June 19 on the road against the State College Spikes, with the home opener at the newly renovated BB&T Ballpark taking place on Tuesday.
The arrival roster features twenty-six players including eight who saw action with Williamsport last season including 2016 NYPL All-Star Jesus Alastre.
The roster is highlighted by 18 year-old OF Jhailyn Ortiz who was ranked as the top international prospect for 2015 by MLB.com who currently ranks him as the #20 prospect in the Phillies organization.
Top picks from the 2016 draft on the squad include; INF Cole Stobbe, a 3rd round pick, RHP Julian Garcia, a 10th round pick who returns from 2016, and OF Josh Stephen, an 11th round choice.
Also on the roster is RHP Tyler Frohwirth, the son of former MLB pitcher Todd Frohwirth who pitched for the Phillies from 1987-1990.
The Phillies are expected to assign 2017 draft picks to the team in the coming days.
Opening Night 2017, presented by BB&T & KISS 102.7 takes place on Tuesday, June 20 and will feature a fidget spinner giveaway for fans 14 and under, schedule magnets for all in attendance and a post-game fireworks show.
