Mother Nature helped the Crosscutters take the middle game of a 3-game series with Tri-City Sunday night at Susquehanna Bank Park at Bowman Field 5-0.
Imhof picks up his first win as a professional since being drafted in the second round of the 2014 draft. He scattered three hits walked one and struck out three.
Aaron Brown hit his second homer in as many days with a two out solo shot to left field in the first inning putting the Cutters in front 1-0.
He then led off the fourth inning by being hit with the first pitch of the inning. Three batters later Jan Hernandez walked and Deivi Grullon provided an RBI single to right field scoring Brown and the Cutters took a 2-0 lead.
With two on and two out, Drew Stankiewicz hit his first home run as a Crosscutter just inside the foul pole down the right field line to make it 5-0 Cutters.
As the game moved to the bottom of the fifth inning, the skies opened up and a series of heavy rain and thunderstorms brought the game to a halt.
Cutters starting pitcher Matt Imhof (1-0) gave up back to back singles to start the top of the fifth inning and then induced Mott Hyde to ground into a double play to end the scoring threat and preserve the win.
The win moves the Cutters to 17-13 and puts them only a half game behind Batavia for the lead in the wildcard standings.
The series and home stand conclude Monday, July 14 with the Crosscutters Team Photo Giveaway, plus Military Monday and Hoss's Knothole Gang night.
