WILLIAMSPORT - Looking for a little redemption before heading over on the road for a pair, the Cutters topped the Doubledays 3-2.
Zach Green got the Cutters on the scoreboard in familiar fashion as he blasted his 11th home run over the left field fence at Historic Bowman Field to make it 1-0. For Green in was his team leading 32nd RBI. Jairo Cardozo plated the Cutters 2nd run with an RBI ground out that scored Logan Pierce and gave the Cutters an early 2-0 lead.
Auburn would find the scoreboard in the 4th inning against Shane Martin. Jimmy Yezzo ripped a triple down the right field line that would score Bryan Lippincott from 1st base to make it 2-1. Lippincott reached on an error by Martin with two outs.
Doubledays starter Nick Pivetta would be replaced after 3.2 innings of work by Casey Selsor. Pivetta allowed two runs, both earned, on three hits while walking four and striking out three. Pivetta was replaced after throwing 75 pitches.
Shane Martin would be replaced in the 6th inning by Manny Martinez. Martin allowed one run, unearned, on one hit in five innings of work against the Doubledays. Martin struck out two.
Auburn would pull even in the 6th inning against Martinez. Jimmy Yezzo ripped a single passed a diving Zach Green into left field to score Greg Zebrack and tie the game 2-2.
Mark Meadors replaced Martinez in the 8th inning. Martinez went two innings, allowing one run, earned, while striking out three Doubledays.
In the bottom of the 8th inning, Williamsport would take a late lead utilizing a Doubledays error. Gustavo Martinez grounded to short, fielded by Kyle Attl who threw the ball wide of Jimmy Yezzo at first allowing Dylan Cozens to score from 2nd base to give the Cutters a 3-2 lead.
Meadors would work two scoreless innings to earn his first win with the Crosscutters. Meadors did not allow a hit in his two innings. Meadors struck out three Doubledays.
