Curve, Pa.- The Akron Aeros defeated the Altoona Curve, 4-2 in eleven innings on Monday afternoon at Peoples Natural Gas Field in front of a crowd of 4,095. Jason Grilli tossed another scoreless inning as he continued his rehab assignment with the Curve. 

Grilli worked a scoreless first inning for the Curve (63-79) in his second rehab appearance. The right-hander allowed one hit and struck out three. Grilli threw 17 pitches in total, 14 of which were strikes.

The Curve offense worked some two-out magic to get on the board first in the bottom of the third inning. Oscar Tejeda, and Alen Hanson each singled to put runners on first and second. Mel Rojas Jr. looped a single into left field to score Tejeda to make it a 1-0 contest.


Jarek Cunningham blasted a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning and make it a two-run Curve advantage. The home run was the 19th of the season for Cunningham. 

Akron took advantage of an error by the Curve defense to plate two runs in the top half of the seventh inning and tie the game at two. Aeros (68-73) infielder Matt Lawson broke the tie in the top half of the eleventh inning with an RBI-single off of Eliecer Navarro (4-8) to make it a 3-2 game. Austin Adams (3-2) worked a scoreless bottom half of the tenth inning to earn the win for the Aeros. 

Quinton Miller turned in another solid outing out of the bullpen in relief of Grilli. The right-hander tossed four scoreless innings and allowed only two hits. Mel Rojas Jr. had a three-hit performance and Tejeda added a pair of hits for the Curve offense in the season finale.
