AKRON, Ohio - The Altoona Curve scored a run in each of the first four innings on Thursday night and cruised to a 4-1 win over the Akron RubberDucks at Canal Park. Stetson Allie had two hits, including his league-leading 16th home run of the season.

The Curve (54-45) took the series opener against the RubberDucks (50-49) for their fourth straight win.

Allie went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. He homered each of the last three nights, covering a span of four games.

Dan Gamache put the Curve on the board in the first inning with an RBI infield single against Akron starter Charlie Brewer (Loss, 1-1).

Allie led off the second with his homer, and Jose Osuna added an RBI single in the third. Edward Salcedo put the Curve ahead, 4-0, in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly.

The RubberDucks answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth on a two-out RBI single by Joe Sever.

Curve starter Steven Brault (Win, 3-3) allowed one run on five hits over five innings while walking two and striking out four.

Reliever Clario Perez pitched three scoreless innings, finishing the night with three strikeouts. Jhondaniel Medina (Save, 3) worked around a hit to post a scoreless ninth.

The Curve and RubberDucks continue the series on Friday night at Canal Park. Lefty Zack Dodson (4-7, 4.02) starts for Altoona, countered by Akron southpaw Ryan Merritt (7-7, 3.73). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
