NCAA Division III Tournament Returning to Legion Field

DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University is partnering with the City of Danville and the Danville Braves to host the 2017 NCAA Division III Baseball South Regional in Danville held May 18-22. 

DANVILLE, Va. - Averett University is partnering with the City of Danville and the Danville Braves to host the 2017 NCAA Division III Baseball South Regional in Danville held May 18-22. 

All games will be played on American Legion Post 325 Field at Dan Daniel Park, home of the Atlanta Braves' rookie league affiliate. Daily tickets are $10 for adult general admission and $5 for faculty, staff, students, senior citizens and children. Tournament passes are also available at $30 for adults and $15 for faculty, staff, students, senior citizens and children. Kids under 6 receive free admission. Tickets may be purchased at the D-Braves' box office (cash only), which will open two hours prior to the start of the first game each day.

This is the second time Danville will serve as host for the NCAA Division III baseball regional. The city also hosted in 2008.

"We are excited to bring the NCAA baseball regional back to Danville," Averett Director of Athletics Meg Stevens said. "This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Averett, the City of Danville and the Danville Braves to the participating teams, their families, friends and fans. We also hope that area residents will come see some of the best Division III baseball in the country."

The field of 56 teams will be announced on Monday, May 15. The winner of each of the eight regionals will advance to the College World Series held May 26-31 in Appleton, Wisconsin.

"Working in conjunction with Averett University and the City of Danville, we plan to put on a great event for the people of Danville and provide the best experience for the teams coming to play in the Regional."
