DANVILLE, Va. - It took 11 innings, but the Danville Braves evened up their opening series against the Pulaski Yankees with a 6-5 win on Wednesday night at Legion Field.

As the D-Braves were in a see-saw affair throughout the night, third baseman Brett Langhorne knocked in Henry Quintero to hand the D-Braves their first win of the 2018 season. Langhorne would later tie up the game in the fourth inning with an RBI triple, which was the D-Braves first extra-base hit of the season.
After a rocky first inning where he allowed two runs on two hits, D-Braves right-hander Matt Rowland pitched three scoreless innings to keep the D-Braves within striking distance. Following Rowland, Tanner Allison added three innings of scoreless work and only allowed three hits with five strikeouts.
Danville (1-1) came back with four unanswered runs, and held their first lead of the game in the sixth inning as Henry Quintero smoked an RBI triple down the left field line. Marcos Almonte added an RBI single to the mix, giving the D-Braves a 4-2 lead.
The Yanks would answer back with three runs of their own through the 10th inning. With the new MiLB rules in effect, a runner begins every extra inning on second base.
The Braves tied up the game in the bottom of the 10th inning as Andrew Moritz scored Nick Shumpert to extend the game to the 11th inning.
Meanwhile, the Braves had two position players garner appearances on the mound. Infielder Luis Mejia pitched an inning for the second time in his career, and outfielder Carlos Baerga Jr. pitched two innings, pitching for the first time in his professional career, and earned the win.
Danville finishes up their three-game homestand against Pulaski on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
