Wild Pitches Key to D-Braves Extra-Inning Victory

DANVILLE, Va. - The Danville Braves took full advantage of the Pulaski Yankees mistakes in their 5-4 win, especially in the 10th inning of Thursday night's game at Legion Field.

Every single wild pitch was costly for Pulaski. All three of the D-Braves five runs came off three Pulaski wild pitches, which led to the D-Braves second consecutive walk-off win.
Nick Vizcaino hit his first homerun of his professional career in the bottom of the second inning, which was the first of the year for the D-Braves, giving the D-Braves a 1-0 lead.
In his second season of professional baseball, starter Jose Montilla picked up where the D-Braves starting pitching staff left off. The native of Neyba, Dominican Republic, fanned four batters and allowed eight hits in six innings of work only giving up two earned runs.
Justin Dean continued to tear up opposing pitchers as he collected three more hits, making it twice in three games where Dean has collected a trio of knocks. The product of Mauldin, South Carolina is hitting .583 with a pair of doubles in his first three games of professional baseball.
The Braves extended their lead to 2-0 as Dean scored on a wild pitch off Pulaski's right-hander Jhonathan Munoz.
The Yankees answered back with two of their own in the top of the fourth, as Juan De Leon and Jordan Scott each picked up RBI hits.
Danville bounced back as Michael Mateja scored on a wild pitch, and Justin Dean singled in last night's pitching hero, Carlos Baerga Jr., giving the D-Braves a 4-2 lead.
The Braves clung to their lead until the top of the ninth inning, where Jacob Belinda allowed three straight walks. Pulaski's Daniel Barrios hit into a fielder's choice and narrowed the Braves lead to 4-3. The Yanks' Evan Alexander tied the game with a sacrifice fly to left center.
Come the 10th inning, due to the new minor league rule, the D-Braves automatically were granted a runner at second base. D-Braves outfielder, Greyson Jenista sacrificed Greg Cullen to third base, and Pulaski's Brian Blanton threw a wild pitch and Greg Cullen scored the winning run.
