MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (July 13, 2017) - Thanks to a go-ahead two-run single from star prospect Eloy Jiménez in his Dash debut, Winston-Salem defeated the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 3-2 on Thursday night at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.
Jimenez was one of four players, alongside highly-touted right-hander Dylan Cease and fellow Dash arrivals Bryant Flete and Matt Rose, sent to the White Sox from the Cubs in exchange for big league left-hander José Quintana on Thursday.

The eighth-best prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline, Jimenez finished 1-for-4 against Myrtle Beach (8-12, 51-39), where he played 42 games this season and hit .271 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs. Jimenez was a Midseason Carolina League All-Star and a participant in last week's SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.
Flete registered a 1-for-3 effort with a walk and a run scored in his first game within the White Sox system, while Rose went 0-for-4 in his first contest with Winston-Salem (10-11, 34-57).
The Pelicans jumped ahead with a sacrifice fly from Trent Giambrone in the first, but the Dash answered with three runs in the third. Joel Booker and Luis Basabe led off the frame with back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners, and Myrtle Beach starter Duncan Robinson (0-2) uncorked a wild pitch to allow Booker to score, tying the game at one apiece.
Later in the inning, Jimenez strolled to the plate with runners on second and third. On a 3-2 pitch, the 20-year-old grounded a ball past shortstop Zack Short, bringing home Basabe and Flete to give Winston-Salem a 3-1 lead.
Brannon Easterling (6-5) yielded a solo blast to Eddy Martinez with one out in the bottom of the third but proceeded to face the minimum in his final 3.2 frames en route to his second consecutive six-inning, two-run effort.
Victor Diaz relieved Easterling and tossed a perfect seventh, and Ian Hamilton picked up his second High-A save with two flawless frames.
The Dash continue their four-game set against Myrtle Beach at 7:05 p.m. on Friday at TicketReturn.Com Field. Winston-Salem sends right-hander Dane Dunning (3-4, 3.03 ERA) to the slab against Pelicans righty Thomas Hatch (4-7, 3.33 ERA).
