Rodon to start at Potomac on Thursday

Former NC State star set for first High-A start
August 6, 2014

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Aug. 6, 2014) - The Chicago White Sox and the Winston-Salem Dash have announced that left-hander Carlos Rodon will be making his first start at the High-A level on Thursday against the Potomac Nationals. The series finale at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge, Va., is scheduled for 12:05 p.m., and the game can be heard on 600 AM-WSJS in the Winston-Salem area.

Rodon has appeared in two games as a reliever with the Dash. In his debut last Wednesday against the Frederick Keys (Baltimore Orioles) at BB&T Ballpark, the former NC State star allowed two runs, one hit and two walks while striking out three in one inning.

During his second appearance against the Lynchburg Hillcats (Atlanta Braves) on Sunday, the 21-year-old struck out two, allowed one hit and walked one in two scoreless innings of relief.

Last month, the White Sox drafted Rodon out of North Carolina State University with the third overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft. This was the highest draft pick by the White Sox since the club tabbed Harold Baines with the top selection in 1977.

MLB.com lists the Holly Springs, N.C., native as the top prospect in the White Sox system and the 23rd-best among all current Minor Leaguers.

Following their six-game road trip, the Dash return to BB&T Ballpark for a three-game homestand against the Hillcats from August 12-14. For tickets, call (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
