Infielder led Minor League Baseball with 83 stolen bases
November 19, 2013

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Nov. 19, 2013) - Micah Johnson, who shined in 49 games with the Winston-Salem Dash this season, was named the Topps' Class-A All-Star second baseman, Minor League Baseball and the Topps Company announced Tuesday.

Johnson stormed through three minor league levels during his first full professional season. He paced all minor leaguers with 83 stolen bases while making stops in Low-A Kannapolis, Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham. The former Indiana University star also placed in the top five among Class A players with 104 runs (third), 15 triples (fourth) and 162 hits (fifth).

During his time in the Carolina League, Johnson hit .275 with one homer, 15 RBIs and 28 runs scored out of the Dash's leadoff spot. He swiped 22 bases en route to defeating Reds farmhand Billy Hamilton for the most stolen bases in 2013. Hamilton set Minor League Baseball's single-season stolen base record with 155 last year.

The White Sox ninth-round pick in 2012, Johnson earned a promotion to Birmingham during the final week of the regular season. He helped the Barons claim the Southern League championship by hitting .368 with seven RBIs and 12 runs scored during the postseason.

Johnson joins Dan Black as the only White Sox farmhands honored as Topps All-Stars. Black, who won the 2012 Carolina League Most Valuable Player award while with the Dash, posted a .290 average to go along with 17 homers and 83 RBIs as Birmingham's primary first baseman this season.

The Dash's 2014 schedule includes 32 weekend games at BB&T Ballpark! Full- and partial-season ticket plans for the 2014 season are on sale now, and the season begins at home on Thursday, April 3.
