Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons established season highs in hits and runs as they defeated the Great Lakes Loons 12-4 on Sunday afternoon before a crowd of 8,614 at Fifth Third Field. The win as the Dragons third straight and lifted their record back above the .500 mark at 21-20.
The Dragons finished with 19 hits as every player in the lineup collected at least one. Stuart Fairchild and Leandro Santana each connected on a two-run home run as part of a five-run third inning as the Dragons built an 8-0 lead. The 19-hit attack was led by Santana, Mark Kolozsvary, and John Sansone, who each had three hits. Fairchild, Miles Gordon, Michael Beltre, and Jose Garcia each had two hits. Santana, Fairchild, and Kolozsvary each drove in three runs.
On the mound, Dragons starting pitcher Adrian Rodriguez struck out four of the first five batters in the game and did not allow a run until the fourth inning after the Dragons had taken a big lead. Rodriguez (2-0) earned the win as he worked five innings, allowing two runs on five hits with no walks and six strikeouts.
The Dragons scored three runs in the second inning to take an early lead. Kolozsvary delivered a two-run double in the inning. The Dragons added five more in the third to make it 8-0, getting the two-run home runs from Fairchild and Santana along with another RBI double by Kolozsvary in the inning. After Great Lakes scored two runs in the fourth, the Dragons responded with two in the sixth, keyed by a run-scoring single by Fairchild to make it 10-2. After the Loons scored two in the seventh, Dayton added two runs in the eighth to close out the scoring. A double by Montrell Marshall and Santana's RBI single were the big hits in the inning.
Dragons reliever Adrian Chacon was credited with a save by pitching the final three innings. He allowed two runs in just his third outing with the team. Reliever Max Wotell, in his first game since June of 2017, worked a scoreless sixth inning in relief of Rodriguez.

Notes: The Dragons featured improved pitching over the last three games as the Loons combined to score seven runs over that time…Garcia went 6 for 12 with five runs batted in in the series…The Dragons went 7 for 17 with runners in scoring position…The Dragons improved their home record on the year to 15-7.
In the Standings: The Dragons are 21-20, in fourth place, six games behind first place Lansing and four and one-half games behind Bowling Green, the wildcard leader, in the Midwest League East Division. They are one and one-half games behind third place West Michigan.    
Up Next: The Dragons open a new four-game series against the Lake County Captains at Fifth Third Field on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. Packy Naughton (3-3, 4.93) will start for Dayton against Lake County's Gregori Vasquez (1-1, 3.47).
