Lansing, Mich.—Lansing’s Brett Harris hit two home runs to lead the Lugnuts to a 6-1 victory over the Dayton Dragons on Wednesday night. The two teams have split the first two games of the series.

The Dragons were limited to five hits in the game and went 1 for 8 with men in scoring position, unable to generate an attack at the plate.

*Game Recap: *Lansing scored three runs in the first inning to build an early lead. Brett Harris blasted a two-run home run in the first, then added a solo homer in the fourth as the Lugnuts increased their lead to 5-0.

The Dragons scored their only run in the top of the sixth when Elly De La Cruz singled with two outs and scored on a triple by Alex McGarry to make it 5-1. But Lansing answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth and shut the Dragons out over the remaining three innings.

The Dragons had two chances for big innings but could not capitalize. They loaded the bases with one out in the third inning, but Lansing starter Stevie Emanuels struck out Nick Quintana and got De La Cruz to fly out to deep center field to end the threat. Then in the eighth, Dayton loaded the bases with no one out, but McGarry and Allan Cerda both struck out and Garrett Wolforth grounded out to second to end the inning. Lansing pitchers retired the Dragons in order in five of the other seven innings of the game.

Dragons starting pitcher Bryce Bonnin (0-1) suffered the loss. He worked four innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Bonnin gave up both home runs to Harris. Dayton relievers Manuel Cachutt and Jake Stevenson combined to work the final four innings and limited Lansing to one run.

De La Cruz was 2 for 4 for Dayton with a pair of hard singles. McGarry’s triple gave him 22 runs batted in for the season.

The Dragons saw their record fall to 20-8 with the loss, while Lansing improved to 12-17. Meanwhile, second place Great Lakes won their seventh straight game, defeating Lake County 5-2. Great Lakes is now three and one-half games behind the Dragons.
