Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Great Lakes Loons (affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers) in the last game of a four-game series. This is also the last game of a 13-game, 14-day road trip for the Dragons.
Dragons Record to Date on the Trip: 2-10.
Last Game: Monday: Great Lakes 3, Dayton 2. The Loons overcame a 1-0 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, then ended a Dragons comeback bid with a game-ending tag play at the plate. Great Lakes has won the first three games in the series. The Loons loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth before a wild pitch brought in the tying run. Devin Mann followed with a two-run triple to give the Loons a 3-1 lead. The Dragons loaded the bases in the ninth and got a two-out single from Mark Kolozsvary that brought in one run. Andy Sugilio, representing the tying run, tried to score from second on Kolozsvary's hit, but the Loons got a perfect throw to the plate by center fielder Chris Roller and Sugilio was tagged out to end the game.
Playoff Chase: The Dragons must finish in the top two among eligible teams in the East Division in the Second Half (six teams competing; Bowling Green and Lansing ineligible). The Dragons are currently three and one-half games behind Fort Wayne in the race for the #2 seed in the Second Half. There are 20 games to play.
