Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Great Lakes Loons (affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers) in the last game of a four-game series. Season Series to Date:  Dayton 2, Great Lakes 1.
Streaks:  The Dragons have won their last two games after an eight-game losing streak which came on the heels of winning nine of the previous 10.     
Last Night:  Saturday: Dayton 5, Great Lakes 3. Jose Garcia's two-run single with two outs in the seventh inning broke a 3-3 tie. Dragons relievers Cory Thompson (W, 2-1) and John Ghyzel (Sv, 7) combined to pitch scoreless baseball over the final three innings. Dayton drew 10 walks in the game and collected seven hits. Andy Sugilio and Montrell Marshall each had two hits. Stuart Fairchild had a triple and three walks.
2018 Team Notes

  • The Dragons have been the streakiest team in professional baseball in 2018. They started the year with a three-game losing streak, won the next nine games, lost the next eight, won nine of 10, lost the next eight, and have won the last two.

  • Hendrik Clementina is hitting .330 on the year with a .718 slugging percentage. He is tied for second in the MWL in home runs with eight and ranks in the top 10 in RBI with 26 despite being four plate appearances short of qualifying for the batting lead. He would rank eighth in the league in batting average and first in slugging percentage (by 35 points).
  • Michael Beltre over his last nine games: 12 for 34, .353. Beltre has a 34-game on-base streak that is the longest active streak in the league.
  • Stuart Fairchild over his last seven games: 9 for 26 (.346) with three doubles and a triple.
  • Leandro Santana over his last 11 games: 9 for 30 (.300) with two home runs.
  • John Ghyzel is tied for first in the MWL lead in saves with seven. In 15 appearances, he has a 1.80 ERA.
  • Cory Thompson has allowed earned runs in just one of his 16 relief appearances, posting a 1.27 ERA.
