Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Lake County Captains (affiliate of the Cleveland Indians) in the first game of a four-game series. Season Series to Date:  Dayton 4, Lake County 0.
Streaks:  The Dragons have won their last three games after an eight-game losing streak which came on the heels of winning nine of the previous 10.     
Standings:  The Dragons are in fourth place, six games behind first place Lansing, and four and one-half games behind second place Bowling Green.
Last Game:  Sunday: Dayton 12, Great Lakes 4. The Dragons established season highs in runs and hits (19) as they took three-of-four in the series with the Loons. The Dragons eight-run margin of victory was also a season high. Stuart Fairchild and Leandro Santana each hit a two-run home run as the Dragons raced out to an 8-0 lead over the first three innings. Santana, John Sansone, and Mark Kolozsvary each had three hits for Dayton while Fairchild, Miles Gordon, Michael Beltre, and Jose Garcia had two. Starting pitcher Adrian Rodriguez tossed five innings, allowing two runs for the win. 
2018 Team Notes

  • The Dragons have been the streakiest team in professional baseball in 2018. They started the year with a three-game losing streak, won the next nine games, lost the next eight, won nine of 10, lost the next eight, and have won the last three.
  • The Dragons batted .320 in the four-game series vs. Great Lakes, their highest average in any series this season. Their 14 extra base hits in the series was one short of their season high for a series.

2018 Individual Notes

  • Hendrik Clementina is hitting .330 on the year with a .718 slugging percentage. He is tied for second in the MWL in home runs with eight and ranks in the top 10 in RBI with 26 despite being seven plate appearances short of qualifying for the batting lead. He would rank seventh in the league in batting average and first in slugging percentage (by 60 points).
  • Michael Beltre over his last 10 games: 14 for 38, .368. Beltre is sixth in the league in batting average at .339. Beltre has a 35-game on-base streak that is the longest active streak in the league.
  • Stuart Fairchild over his last eight games: 11 for 31 (.355) with one home run, three doubles a triple, and seven RBI.
  • Leandro Santana over his last 12 games: 12 for 35 (.343) with three home runs.
  • John Ghyzel is tied for first in the MWL lead in saves with seven. In 15 appearances, he has a 1.80 ERA.
