Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Lake County Captains (affiliate of the Cleveland Indians) in the third game of a four-game series. 
Streaks:  The Dragons have won four of their last five games after an eight-game losing streak which came on the heels of winning nine of the previous 10.     
Last Games:  Tuesday: Suspended Game: Dayton 5, Lake County 4. Game 2: Lake County 2, Dayton 1. In the suspended game that began on Monday night and was completed on Tuesday, Jeter Downs delivered an RBI hit with one out in the bottom of the ninth to break a 4-4 tie and lift the Dragons to their third "walk-off" win of the year. John Sansone and Hendrik Clementina each had two-run home runs for Dayton. In the second game, Lake County's Oscar Gonzalez broke a 1-1 tie with a home run in the top of the seventh in a seven-inning game. The Dragons did not commit an error in the doubleheader.   
2018 Team Notes

  • The Dragons have been the streakiest team in professional baseball in 2018. They started the year with a three-game losing streak, won the next nine games, lost the next eight, won nine of 10, lost the next eight, and won the next four before losing the nightcap last night.
  • Despite going 2 for 24 in the second game last night, the Dragons are still batting .314 (50 for 159) in their last five games. They have six home runs in those five games.
  • The Dragons team ERA in their last five games is 2.85 (41 IP, 13 ER).
  • The Dragons are 16-8 at home; 6-13 on the road.

2018 Individual Notes

  • Hendrik Clementina is hitting .348 on the year with a .739 slugging percentage. He is tied for first in the MWL in home runs with nine and tied for sixth in RBI with 28 despite being eight plate appearances short of qualifying for the batting lead. He would rank fourth in the league in batting average and first in slugging percentage (by 72 points).
  • Stuart Fairchild over his last 10 games: 13 for 37 (.351) with one home run, three doubles a triple, and seven RBI.
  • Jose Garcia over his last six games: 8 for 17 (.471) with five RBI and four walks to raise his average from .150 to .188.
  • Miles Gordon over his last 13 games: 16 for 49, .327 to raise his average from .147 to .211.
  • John Ghyzel is tied for first in the MWL lead in saves with seven. In 15 appearances, he has a 1.80 ERA.
  • Dragons top performers in May:  Hendrik Clementina (.354, 7 HR, 16 RBI); Michael Beltre (.321, 2 HR, 11 RBI); Stuart Fairchild (.297, 16 RBI); Jeter Downs (.280, 5 HR, 10 RBI); John Ghyzel (2 wins, 3 saves, 1.23 ERA). Team in May: 11-9; Batting: .260, 25 HR, 22 G. Team ERA: 5.22.
