Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Bowling Green Hot Rods (affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) in the first game of a four-game series.  Season Series to Date:  Bowling Green 3, Dayton 1 (At Bowling Green: Hot Rods 2, Dragons 0).
Streaks:  The Dragons have won six of their last seven games after an eight-game losing streak which came on the heels of winning nine of the previous 10.     
Standings:  The Dragons are in fourth place, five games behind first place Lansing, and four and one-half games behind second place Bowling Green.
Last Game: Thursday: Dayton 2, Lake County 1. Hendrik Clementina delivered a two-run single with two outs in the sixth inning and five Dayton pitchers combined to scatter six hits and strand 13 runners as the Dragons won three-of-four in the series. Hunter Greene enjoyed a strong start, tossing a career-high four and one-third innings. He did not allow a run until the fifth and struck out six. Reliever Adrian Chacon pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the fifth with back-to-back strikeouts and was credited with the win, going two and one-third innings of scoreless baseball.
2018 Team Notes

  • The Dragons have been the streakiest team in professional baseball in 2018. They started the year with a three-game losing streak, won the next nine games, lost the next eight, won nine of 10, lost the next eight, and have won six of the last seven.
  • The Dragons are batting .309 (68 for 220) in their last seven games. Their full season team batting average has risen to .254, fifth best in the league.
  • The Dragons team ERA in their last seven games is 2.75 (59 IP, 18 ER). The team ERA for the year is 5.04.
  • The Dragons posted a team ERA of 2.91 in the four-game series with Lake County, their second best ERA in a series this season.
  • The Dragons are 18-8 at home; 6-13 on the road.

2018 Individual Notes

  • Hendrik Clementina is hitting .354 on the year with a .727 slugging percentage. He is tied for first in the MWL in home runs with nine and tied for third in RBI with 31 despite being seven plate appearances short of qualifying for the batting lead. He would rank third in the league in batting average and first in slugging percentage (by 58 points).
  • Stuart Fairchild over his last 12 games: 16 for 44 (.364) with one home run, four doubles a triple, and seven RBI. He also has a seven-game hitting streak, batting .391 (9 for 23) during the streak.
  • Jose Garcia over his last eight games: 10 for 23 (.435) with five RBI and four walks to raise his average from .150 to .193.
  • Miles Gordon over his last 15 games: 19 for 57, .333 to raise his average from .147 to .219. He has not struck out over the last eight games and has only one strikeout in his last 15 games.
  • John Ghyzel ranks first in the MWL lead in saves with nine. In 17 appearances, he has a 1.59 ERA.
  • Cory Thompson has allowed earned runs in just two of his 17 relief appearances, posting a 1.52 ERA.
