DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - CF Simón Muzziotti's solo home run in the top of the fifth was the deciding factor, as the Clearwater Threshers toppled the Daytona Tortugas, 2-1, in front of 1,770 fans at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Tuesday night.

With nobody on and two outs in the top of the fifth, Muzziotti (1-4, R, HR, RBI, SO) thwacked a 1-0 pitch to deep right field. The shot sailed over the fence for a solo home run - just his second of the year - to put the Threshers (22-23) in front, 2-1.
Daytona's (24-21) offense had few answers. Clearwater's staff limited the Tortugas to just one walk and one base-hit over the final four frames to snag the victory.
The Tortugas initially jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third. C Mark Kolozsvary (1-2, R, HR, RBI, BB, SO) clocked third pitch of the inning over the left-field fence for a solo blast. The dinger was his third of the campaign.
Clearwater quickly evened the contest in the fourth. Following singles by 3B Alec Bohm (2-4, R) and 1B Madison Stokes (1-4, SO), a fielder's choice and a throwing error loaded the bases with one out. RF Jhailyn Ortiz (0-3, RBI, SO) then lifted a sacrifice fly to right to tie the game up at one.
RHP Alejandro Requeña (6.0 IP, 2 H, R, ER, 2 BB, 3 SO) was superb for the Threshers. The 22-year-old issued just one run on two hits in six innings to garner his third win of the year. LHP Keylan Killgore (1.0 IP) threw four pitches to retire the side in the ninth, collecting his second save.
It was a tough-luck defeat once more for RHP Austin Orewiler (5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, ER, SO). Daytona's 26-year-old starter surrendered just two runs on four hits in five frames but was saddled with his fifth defeat.
Daytona will look to earn the series split on Wednesday night, as RHP Mac Sceroler (3-0, 4.50 ERA) is expected to take the ball in the finale. Clearwater has not yet named their starter for tomorrow evening.
The Tortugas Pre-Game Show will kick off the broadcast at 6:50 p.m. ET, leading up to the 7:05 p.m. ET start at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Wednesday evening's contest can be heard on daytonatortugas.com or via the TuneIn Radio and MiLB First Pitch apps.
It will be a Wishful Wednesday presented by VyStar Credit Union. As a part of each Wednesday home game, the Tortugas will celebrate, recognize, and help raise awareness and funds for local charities around Volusia County. Fans are encouraged to bring their four-legged furry friends for a "nine-inning vacation" of their own for a Bark in the Park Night presented by NextHome at the Beach. For just $2, patrons can purchase a "pooch pass" to have their pup join them at the game.
Multi-game plans and single-game tickets are still currently available and can be purchased online at www.daytonatortugas.com, or by calling the Tortugas' Ticket Office at (386) 257-3172.
