FREDERICKSBURG, VA. – The Delmarva Shorebirds rode the exploits of Silas Ardoin to a 3-2 win over the Fredericksburg Nationals on Friday night at Virginia Credit Union Stadium

The Shorebirds (45-78, 24-34) snapped their 12-game losing streak against the Nationals (69-54, 36-21) with the victory.

The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning. Max Wagner singled and Ardoin then doubled him home for his first RBI of the game.

The ‘Birds held on to that 1-0 lead all the way until the seventh. JT Arruda walked to start the frame and then stole second before a flyout advanced him to third. Trey Lipscomb then doubled him in. Lipscomb stole third and then with two away, Geraldi Diaz ripped a double to score him, and put the FredNats ahead 2-1.

The FredNats lead was short lived as the ‘Birds answered back in the top of the eighth. Doug Hodo walked to start the frame, and after a flyout, Wagner doubled to put runners at second and third. Ardoin then knocked in both runners with a base hit to put Delmarva ahead for good, 3-2.

Moises Chace (2-5) secured the win out of the bullpen for the Shorebirds. Chace went a career high five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk, striking out four.

Marquis Grissom Jr. (0-1) suffered the loss for the Nationals, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks, striking out one.

Yaqui Rivera secured the save for Delmarva his first of the season. In two scoreless innings, he struck out three while giving up just a hit and a walk.

The Shorebirds continue their series with the Nationals on Saturday, September 3 at Virginia Credit Union Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m with pregame coverage beginning at 5:50 p.m. and theshorebirds.com with Sam Jellinek on the call.
