SALISBURY, Md. -- There was a great crowd in attendance at the Delmarva Shorebirds 17th Annual Hot Stove Banquet on Thursday, January 25th at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center. Those in attendance listened to guest speakers, bid on some great silent auction items that benefitted the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore and helped generate excitement for the 2018 season.
Those in attendance got to learn more about the future of the Shorebirds organization from Team President, Pat Filippone. Chris Bitters also clued the crowd in on the upcoming promotions that are on tap for the 2018 season. Kent Qualls gave an inside perspective into the Orioles' minor league system and gave the fans a follow up on how former Shorebirds are doing in Baltimore. Mychal Givens, a former Shorebird and current Orioles' pitcher, answered great questions from fans in attendance in regards to coming up through the minors, changing positions from an infielder to a pitcher, playing for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, and living his dream of playing in the Major Leagues.
The silent auction brought in $2,290 in proceeds, which has been contributed to the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore.
