BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Delmarva Shorebirds, Class-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, along with the Baltimore Orioles are pleased to announce the 2018 Delmarva Shorebirds Coaching Staff.
As it was announced at the Shorebirds' Hot Stove Banquet in January, Buck Britton will be the new manager of the Delmarva Shorebirds in 2018. Britton, a 35th round pick by the Orioles in 2008, takes over as skipper after serving as Delmarva's hitting coach in 2017. He also spent time in the Dodgers' and Twins' minor league systems as a player. Buck is the older brother of former Shorebird and current Orioles closer, Zach Britton.
Britton will be joined by Justin Lord, who enters his second year of his second stint at Delmarva as Pitching Coach (also 2013). This will be Lord's sixth season as a pitching coach in the Orioles organization, after serving in the same capacity for Aberdeen from 2014-16.
Bobby Rose enters his first season as Hitting Coach for Delmarva. This is his first season in the Orioles organization after spending the previous five seasons with the Rangers organization as a hitting instructor with Short-Season A Spokane, Class-A Hickory, and Class A-Advanced High Desert and Down East.
Adrián González enters his first season as Athletic Trainer with Delmarva after serving in the same role for Aberdeen last season and the GCL in 2015-16.
"We are excited to welcome this year's coaching staff that includes some new and familiar faces. We look forward to this staff being able to lead the Shorebirds to a successful 2018 season on the field," said Shorebirds General Manager, Chris Bitters.
Opening Night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium is set for Thursday, April 5th against the Asheville Tourists at 7:05 PM.
Full season, half season, 22 game, and 12 game ticket plans can be purchased online at www.theshorebirds.com. For group outing information, contact the Shorebirds at 410-219-3112.
