SALISBURY, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds are pleased to announce that the South Atlantic League has recognized Delmarva Shorebirds outfielder Cedric Mullins as the South Atlantic League's Player of the Week for the week of August 29 - September 5.
Mullins was arguably the offensive MVP for the Shorebirds this season and he finished the campaign on a high note. Mullins totaled a slash line of .433/.433/.833 in seven games last week, going 13-for-30 with three doubles, three home runs, seven RBI, seven runs scored and three stolen bases. He only struck out once all week.
Mullins finished the year with 61 extra-base hits, including a league-high 10 triples. All 14 of his home runs came as the leadoff hitter in the lineup. Mullins also finished ninth in the circuit with 30 stolen bases and he finished in the top 25 in the league with 55 RBI.
This is the first career honor for Mullins in the South Atlantic League. He is the sixth different player to be recognized by the league office this season, joining Yermin Mercedes (twice), Ryan Mountcastle, Cristian Alvarado, Randolph Gassaway and Ofelky Peralta.
