BREAKING: Orioles First Rounder Colton Cowser Joins Shorebirds

SALISBURY, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds are pleased to announce the addition of Orioles 2021 1st Rounder Colton Cowser to the Shorebirds roster as well as 14 other recent draft picks and signings. Cowser was selected 5th overall out of Sam Houston State where he slashed .374/.490/.680 with 16 home

SALISBURY, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds are pleased to announce the addition of Orioles 2021 1st Rounder Colton Cowser to the Shorebirds roster as well as 14 other recent draft picks and signings.

Cowser was selected 5th overall out of Sam Houston State where he slashed .374/.490/.680 with 16 home runs and 52 RBIs in 55 games this past season. Cowser began his professional career with FCL Orioles Orange, going 11-for-22 (.500) with a homer and eight runs driven in.

Joining Cowser on the Shorebirds roster from this years’ draft class include: Connor Norby (2nd Round), Reed Trimble (2nd), John Rhodes (3rd), Donta’ Williams (4th), Carlos Tavera (5th), Collin Burns (6th), Connor Pavolony (7th), Billy Cook (10th), Jacob Teter (13th), Peter Van Loon (16th), Conor Grady (18th) as well as undrafted free agents Daniel Federman and Preston Price. Also joining the new draftees is 2020 4th Rounder Coby Mayo.

Of the new additions, five slot into the Orioles Top-30 Prospects per Baseball America: Cowser (5th), Norby (10th), Mayo (15th), Trimble (20th), and Rhodes (26th).

The newest Shorebirds make their home debut on Tuesday, August 17 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium as they take on the Fredericksburg Nationals in the first of a six game series. Coverage of the game will begin at 6:50 p.m. on Fox Sports 960 AM and MiLB.TV (subscription required) with Sam Jellinek on the call.

The Delmarva Shorebirds were founded in 1996 and have been the Class-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles since 1997. The Shorebirds have won two South Atlantic League championships in 1997 and 2000 and were named the MiLB.com Minor League Team of the Year in 2019 after going 90-48 in the regular season.
